I previously shared some of the history of the Quality Improvement (QI) field with highlights that I believe helped shape our profession in my previous article. Isn’t it intriguing how manufacturing methods in the 1900s could affect healthcare in the 2000s?
And we, as professionals, tend to help other departments quite a bit under the “and other duties as needed” clause of our contracts. As we learned from Deming, it is actually a great opportunity to cross-over, help colleagues, and develop professionally. Unlike Deming, we do not typically have to cross the ocean and learn Japanese to do so.
